In the picture above, I can be seen with two other karma yogis carrying Swamiji's wheelchair up the hill. This snapshot beautifully captures every smile. It's incredible what we can accomplish when we all lend a helping hand. Peace is a ripple effect, start one today.
"Charity starts at home". "Charity starts at home", my grandmother would always say to me whenever she caught glimpse or caught ear of a fundraising or charity project I'd be working on. She believed that whatever you portrayed or pursued in the 'outside world' should be a reflection of your true self and thus how you were within the household. She always scolded me saying how I never did the dishes, or helped out with the cleaning, etc. It is when I grow older that I realize the wisdom and the truth to her words. Having been raised by both my grandmothers, they have each distilled in me their own beliefs. And she was absolutely right. We must set the example and be the change that we wish to see in the world. You can travel all the oceans in the world and touch the lives of thousands of children but, you've only made a true difference if you've done the same to those around you, your family and friends. Charity starts at home and is the beginning of the ripple effect.

Grow and help reverse/prevent addictions with AFY.Addiction Free Youth is a local nonprofit organization that delivers life changing seminars in primary schools to children of all ages. They have been known to prevent and reverse thousands of addictions among children in a way that traditional counsellors and rehabilitation centers could not. They work very closely with you as an individual and give you the opportunity to expand and enhance your already existing skills within the organization.
